There are reports that there’s a new Mazda ute coming to town. Known as the 2021 Mazda BT-50, it will embrace a design language that’s new and different from its previous version. According to online reports, it will move from the Kodo Phase II design and embody something more aggressive in nature. From our research, we’ve found that the new Mazda is going to be developed in conjunction with Isuzu. Here is more on what we’ve found out about the pickup truck.
Reports indicate that the new BT-50 is most likely going to be as masculine as possible. Executives from the marque have already pointed out that the new Mazda is going to focus on size and presence. From what we know so far, the company’s design boss Ikuo Maeda has revealed that it will be challenging to combine the suave lines that are characteristic of Mazda with the rough exterior expected of a pickup truck. He is reported to have added that cooperation with Isuzu will help to increase the chances of constructing a strong pickup truck since the marque has substantial experience doing so.

Built for Australia
All signs indicate that the new Mazda is built for the Australian market. The 2021 Mazda BT-50 is going to be a use for the land down under. Some teaser images have been released online and they allude to this fact. They depict the front fascia. From our analysis, the smiling face of Mazda has been replaced with a rough and tough exterior. After further investigation, we have discovered that some of the bumper and grille features are going to be only facilitated in the Australian market.
Unique exterior design features
From the data sourced so far, we can confidently indicate that the new Mazda has a squared off front fascia. The Mazda BT-50 also has a large bumper. These features create an aggressive stance in the front. It also has a large lower intake which has a trapezoidal shape.
Seeing as this ute may see quite some substantial off-road action, it has an aluminum skid plate. This gives the Mazda an increasingly flat appearance at the front. In this way, the truck looks masculine.
We predict that its headlights contain LED technology. The ute also has a brand new grille. This section has slats which are flatter. In this way, the headlights have an aggressive appearance. The grille is also flanked in chrome. The chrome also features on this truck’s rearview mirrors. In this way, it makes the ute more modern in appearance.
From what we know, it’s clamshell hood will also be highly sculpted. Most importantly, the curving lines which were a major part of the previous model have been replaced by bolder, flatter ones. Studies had shown that pickup truck buyers in Australia did not like the curvy lines. This had led to the bad reception of the older model. To replace it, we are confident that Mazda is going to implement sharper angles and a low visual center of gravity.
Engine and suspension
We are confident that the 2021 Mazda BT-50 will also receive a boost under the hood. The marque is likely to replace the current mill with a more throaty and powerful one. Seeing as the Aussies enjoy taking their utes off-road, we can expect a V6 as the base powerplant. There could also be a v8 option. Both engines are sure to be turbocharged.

A read differential lock suspension setup is also highly likely to be contained in this new pickup truck. Also, Mazda may embrace some high-technology and implement an electronically adjustable suspension in their truck. Some other facilities that we would expect to find in the new ute include driver assistance systems, automatic high beams, rain sensing wipers, and an 8-speed automatic transmission system.
The bigger engine could negatively affect its mileage. However, as long as torque levels are high, the drivers of this new pickup truck are quite likely to stay pleased.
Price, Release Date, and Availability
We are quite confident that the 2021 BT-50 is going to be released in April 2020. It’s base trim may have a price tag of $39,480. With Premium features or off road sporting kits, this price could rise considerably.
