2020 Infiniti QX50 Features, Engine, Price

A year and a half ago, the Japanese manufacturer introduced a completely new, second generation of this compact crossover. It came with a nice amount of improvements, so it’s no wonder sales numbers increased instantly. The new model features amazing styling but also comes with some pretty fascinating technology solutions, starting from a new turbo-four engine, which is so potent that it can compete with six cylinders with ease. Moreover, it is also very fuel efficient. On the other side, there are some drawbacks too. The new model isn’t very exciting to drive, despite plenty of power. The handling is unsatisfying for the class. Also, an infotainment system could be better. These are some of the issues the Japanese manufacturer will have to deal with. However, that won’t happen so soon, so we have no doubt that the 2020 Infiniti QX50 will come without more important changes.

2020 Infiniti QX50 Design

The 2020 Infiniti QX50 is expected to continue in the same way. The relatively recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties. The first thing you’ll notice is the new styling. Compared to the previous model, everything looks a little bit sharper, but the crossover still largely relies on smooth and clean lines. Of course, the new model has changed drastically in terms of mechanics as well. There is a new platform, which brings a lot of nice technical improvements.

However, the company didn’t manage to deal with handling, so the new model probably won’t satisfy those drivers who prefer a little bit sportier ride. Still, we hope that the company will solve this problem with the mid-cycle update, which is expected to happen in the next few years. Until then, the 2020 Infiniti QX50 should continue in the same way. The best we can see in the new model are new color options and similar things.

On the inside, things are also expected to remain the same. The 2020 Infiniti QX50 should continue with the same cabin layout, which looks much better compared to the previous-generation model. The first thing that you’ll notice is that everything looks more upscale. Materials are finer, while color combinations deliver much more style. Also, there is a new dashboard design, which is highlighted by a nice-looking dual-screen center stack. Although it looks upscale, this system actually isn’t that good. Most competitors have much better infotainment systems installed, which are more intuitive, with better graphics etc.

On the other side, the comfort is pretty good. Seats are massive and comfortable, while there is plenty of room in both rows of seats. When it comes to the cargo area, the QX50 is pretty strong. You can count on 31 cubic feet behind rear seats, while the overall capacity goes around 64 cubics of overall cargo volume.

Tech and Safety Features

As we already mentioned, this crossover features a dual-touchscreen setup. It looks great but doesn’t work that good. Compared to rivals, it responds quite slow, while graphics could be better. Also, it lacks smartphone essentials, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Still, the overall impression about the standard equipment is pretty good. All models come with tech goodies like a six-speaker audio system, satellite radio, a USB port, Bluetooth etc. In higher trims, you can also get things like a 17-speaker premium audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, navigation, sunroof etc.

When it comes to safety, all models come with things like rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and forward emergency braking. Higher trims also include systems like head-up display, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and many more.

2020 Infiniti QX50 Engine

The most impressive thing about this crossover is the engine. It features the company’s new 2.0-liter turbo-four, which delivers amazing efficiency. It is more powerful than most rivals, as it is good for 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, which is pretty much on par with V6 engines. It offers pretty strong acceleration numbers, but also comes with a CVT transmission. Typically for these gearboxes, the driving experience isn’t that impressive, despite the fact that this one simulates traditional automatic gearboxes. On the other side, it has a great impact on overall efficiency, so it’s no wonder that the 2020 Infiniti QX50 will once again be one of the most fuel-efficient models in the class. It returns around 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, which are pretty amazing results for the class.

2020 Infiniti QX50 Release Date and Price

Considering that we probably won’t see bigger changes for the next year, the 2020 Infiniti QX50 should come sometime late in the year. Also, the price should remain pretty much the same. Base models currently go around 37.000 dollars.
